Burgundy Books

State Coincident Indexes
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia produces a monthly coincident index for each of the 50 states. The coincident indexes combine four state-level indicators to summarize current economic conditions in a single statistic. The four variables are nonfarm payroll employment, average hours worked in manufacturing, the unemployment rate, and wage and salary disbursements deflated by the consumer price index (U.S. city average).

This bibliography from an appendix in the Statistical Abstract of the United States includes the most recent statistical abstracts for states published since 1997. For some states, a near equivalent has been listed in substitution for, or in addition to, a statistical abstract.
