| Summary: |
All the population projection by sex and age groups, carried out by the demographic method, should be revised by the time new information appears, either from Demographic Censuses, Household Sample Surveys or Vital Statistics. Once this method consists in separately projecting each demographic component, that is, mortality, fertility and migration movements, a periodic revision of the measures and indicators of these levels is necessary. It is a continuous process of updates which enables the Brazilian Institute of Geoghaphy and Statistics to furnish populational estimates for Brazil, Major Regions, Federative Units and Municipalities, according to the latest surveys. In this setting, with the publication of the results of the Demographic Census 2000, Civil Register Statistics for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001 and National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) for the year 2001 it is necessary to evaluate the implicit demographic parameters of Brazil“s population. The set of published tables resulted from such evaluation, as well as a document comprising a summarized version of the methodologies used to project a) the population in a national level for the period 1980 - 2050 and b) the populational total of the Federative Units in a period of 40 years, that is, from 1980 to 2020, c) the population of Federative Units on 1st and 15th days of each month comprising the period 1991-2010 and d) the population estimates of 5560 Brazilian municipalities with reference date on July, 1st, 2004. |
